Thanks for the updated info, Jim.  I see the error of
my ways, so to say.  I guess if you push in the clutch
and hit the brakes the plan won't work, as I found. 
And on the FI note, I just happen to have a full
system in my parts car.  The dual carb system is
working great so no plans to change as yet.  Thanks
