Get a Bentley shop manual first.  It'll give all the specs to take things
apart and put them back together.  A Haynes shop manual would be my second
choice.

Having a mechanical aptitude is very helpful.  An electrical one is good as
well.  If you have neither then it's gonna be a difficult journey.  Either
way, try not to get discouraged, these are old cars and not as common as a Bug
(Type 1) so expect NOT to find most parts.  Many replacements will be used and
likely need sprucing up.

Start out with simple stuff, one step (or project) at a time.  Know when
you're in over your head and allow a pro to do the work you can't.  However,
the best and most reliable work done is the work you do yourself!  Remember,
these cars are NOT Bugs so don't treat them nor their engines as such!!!

If you don't mind, let us know where you live.  Chances are pretty good that
another T3er (Type 3 person) is nearby and could help out.
