Sounds like it's not a Gene Berg unit with a pressure bypass. I would think the chances of blowing a filter would be high on any filter used, however, shouldn't the filter have a bypass in it...or is it just for when the filter gets plugged up? I use a Fram filter (and I know they aren't the best) and haven't had this problem ever (I've had an external oil filter set up for over a decade, too). But I am also running with the Gene Berg setup that has the pressure bypass. http://www.geneberg.com/product_info.php?cPath=5_125_2740&products_id=358 Toby Erkson http://www.icbm.org/ > On Matt's newly built 1776 engine we installed an external oil > filter.
