It's very similar to the Type 3 AT. For a Type 3, the tubes are inline, not angled like this one. It's located between the distributor and the breather box, and has one hose connecting to the bottom of the intake air distributor and another to the air cleaner. http://www.914club.com/bbs2/uploads/post-2-1128357809.jpg This is from a thread Toby started on a 914 forum: http://www.914club.com/bbs2/index.php?act=ST&f=2&t=39113 Mine's a '73, but I think all the electric AARs are the same on a Type 3. It should electrically measure 13 ohms or so between the wire and the body of the device. When cold air should blow right through, fully warmed up (after a few minutes of getting 12V) it should be pretty much closed up. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
