As long as gas gets into the center bowl easily, you should be fine. > actually I was wondering if I needed to fill the pump with gas similar > to bench bleeding a master brake cylinder, but we'll see if the > knocking with a hammer will get it to spin. Bench bleeding is another of those myths that needs to be dispelled. It's just a way to make a simple job really awful. There may be cars out there that actually require it, but VW never made any of them. As for priming the pump, there's nothing you need to do other than make sure that gas is free to flow out of the tank. > And I should probably disconnect wire 19 from the control module to > protect it, right? No, leave it alone. You're not jumpering any of the wires that lead to the control module; those wires are on the control (coil) side of the relay. The red wires you're jumpering are on the output (contact) side of the relay. This is just a simple way to bypass the whole brain/relay/relay/wiring harness jumble to eliminate all the complexities that are necessary for running but get in the way for testing. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
