Only two floor jacks would be necessary and that would be to keep the rear end up. No need for the front end to be up nor do you want it up. And only a simple floor jack is necessary to drop/install the engine or engine & transmission in the air-cooled VW's (same goes for a Porsche 914 ;-) Nat, I recommend getting a Bentley shop manual if you plan on doing any work yourself. It will save you much time and frustration. BTW, your size plays no part in dropping the engine. In fact, being smaller will be MORE beneficial as you'll be able to get your hands into more locations than someone with larger hands. The dashboard area comes to mind. Let's also remember to trim our replies so it just includes the pertinent info and not the entire thread. Thanks volks. I havn't pulled a T3 engine, but I use 2 floor jacks to pull trans/transferr case out of my 4 wheel drive. You'll need 4 jack stands too to get the car up... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
