They are not pressed in, but held in place with a threaded nut. One thing to keep in mind when removing that nut is that the hole the ball joint stud is in is not round so that the stud wont rotate. Don't use an impact wrench if they are too tight... heat the nut red hot and it will come right off. If the joint is junk anyway your not hurting anything but if you round off that hole you may have trouble tightening the new joints nut.
