I can't imagine the rubber held up too well to alcohol. I always go to my Parker O-ring Handbook to answer questions like this. When I looked it up, it looked like all the compounds that I recognized as common were completely compatable with ethanol except for nitrile. I figured that that meant that ethanol was pretty likely to be fine, but then I decided to look up gasoline. Under gasoline, I found that just about the only compatable compound was nitrile, the one that was poor with ethanol. So, yes, it looks like it might be difficult to make a hose that works well with gasohol. Of course the percent of ethanol may make a big difference. As far as rubber compatibility goes, it looks like methanol is about the same as ethanol. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
