Since setting up my rods to the correct length, the three arm lever on mine is now at the 11 and 5 position. That pic was taken before I overhauled the carbs.


I don't believe it's the springs being the wrong way round, I think it's the setup of the rods that's causing your problem, but note where the top of the springs hook into - the hole in the rod end, not the bellcrank.

my 1500S dual carb set up is original even though the alternator is not ;-)
