<x-flowed>After last having tags in 1992, it's legal once again!
I let everything lapse way back then and set it aside. The past few months I've been getting it back together, the electrical working, a cleaned out gas tank and new lines, all new brake lines and rebuilt cylinders, new tires, and a pair of cheesy but effective and cheap seat covers installed.
I hit the insurance company last week and forked over my $43 for the next 6 months for antique coverage for 2000 miles per year.
Today I hit the DMV. Although I still have the plates from about 1987, with it not having been registered since 1992, it was still in the system meaning I didn't have to have it inspected. It just cost me $47 for tags. I expected a much bigger hassle, whew.
Took it for a legal drive on my local roads for a mile or so, and am glad to say that I made it back without incident. More test runs are in order, add gas to the tank, and see how it behaves in the run up to the Invasion.
