Re: [T3] My new little girl
<x-flowed>Annika=> suggestions of things I either should check or replace right
off the bat.
I'll basically concur with Constatino on fuel lines and flex hoses --
sounds like you've got one bad brake hose you already know about. Fuel
lines are a must.
If it's been started regularly you probably don't have to worry about
fuel varnish, but you might have a look for water in the tank from
condensation. Replacing fuel lines (and draining the tank pursuant to
that job) and filter will take care of that, of course.
Beyond that, change the oil and drive it. Expect that it should perform
well; if it doesn't, you probaly have some tuning adjustment issues.
The steering box is adjustable, and you should acquire a good manual to
better understand the procedure. You can best do this job with the tank
out, as the top adjuster is hard to reach from underneath. Also check
that the steering box mount is tight.
Get the frontend up in the air and have a look at how the steering
joints work. A bad or loose joint or poor adjustment will also cause
steering uncertainty. Again, expect solid performance here, it's a good
system when everything's dialed in.
Most electrical problems are rooted in previous attempts to fix things.
This can be a nightmare, but with a good manual and some patience you
can get it right again.
NB In your place I'd take that claim of 36K original miles with a major
grain of salt.
Good luck!
