<x-flowed>They're called camping hinges. They change the way that the rear seat bottom folds up to extend rear cargo room for camping use. Search the Samba Type 3 forums for pics and a description. They're rare, and decently expensive because of this. When they come up for sale, they go for $200+...

I just came across a reference to: Something else you may consider are "sleep-in extenders" which make it so a 6' person can sleep in the back without problem. and: for the cost of a nice itch, get a set of type 3 camping hinges for your back seat... it turns your car into a camper! 7ft of flat surface to sleep on!
Now, what the heck are these?!? Sounds like something I could immediately want, if it allows me to sleep more comfortably in my squareback.
Where does one find these, either in pictures or in better description, or best yet, for sale? Thanx!
