You should start by studying the section in the Bentley about assembling and adjusting the steering gear. It pays to come to grips with what's going on in there. The adjustment procedure is quite detailed and it's important to carry out the adjustments in the proper order. If your old one is actually shot, I believe a later one is a drop-in replacement. You may have to reuse your old Pittman arm, unless the replacement came from a later type 3. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
