I run my lines in front (front is front) of the crossbar, then hop over the top and down into the filter base. It takes some fancy plumbing, but I think there are photos on Russ's site. I don't use the hanger bolts; I drill my own holes, so the filter can be completely plumbed before the engine goes in the car. My filter IS out behind the wheel, but I've been driving like this since about 1976 with never a stone problem. I'm sure that if this was off-road I'd be more likely to take a hit there, but it seems like long odds on a street car. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
