Like the air vents in front of the windshield, the sunroof "seals" against water leaks by providing drains that divert the water back to the ground. Depending on the year, there are 2 or 4 drain tubes. The main cause of sunroof water "leaks" is clogged water drains. The front drains are easy to see, but you may want to carefully remove some of the plastic rails in there to access and clean them. Look down into each front corner to find them. You can run a wire down there, but be careful, because the tube is plastic, so you don't want to break it or pull it off its attachment. You may simply find debris blocking the entrance at the top. If you have rear drains, they are much less likely to get clogged. They are also much harder to get to. They come off the back corners of the tray that the sunroof slides back into, so you pretty much have to remove the sunroof to even see them. Don't do this unless you have a Bentley to explain the R&R. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
