Thanks for the reply Russ! I have the 1500 S 65 square. There are 10 fuses and #10 is 16 amp. the rest are 8 amp. So unfortunatly I can't used the diagram. I'm getting my info from the big Bently. I'm not much of an electical guy but I have the volt meter on the socket and a good ground both sides read around 46 with the meter set at 200. (I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense. Some day I'll learn electric. -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: type3-d-request@vwtype3.org From: type3-d-request@vwtype3.org To: type3-d@vwtype3.org Subject: type3-d Digest V2006 #27 Date: Sat, 28 Jan 2006 20:43:26 +0000 Content-Type: Multipart/mixed; boundary="NextPart_Webmail_9m3u9jl4l_14479_1138484067_1" Date: Sat, 28 Jan 2006 14:32:34 -0600 From: Russ Wolfe <russw@classicvw.org> To: Type3 <type3@vwtype3.org> Subject: Re: [T3] lights Message-Id: <1138480354.28815.22.camel@blueboy> Content-Type: text/plain Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit On Sat, 2006-01-28 at 12:39, type3weezer@comcast.net wrote: > ok So I cleaned the sockets to get good contact, I changed both fuses (#1 & #2). Still nothing. What I can't understand is the #1 fuse is for both front and back parking lights and the luggage compartment. The front work and the back don't ,including the luggage compartment. So it can't be a fuse issue. The number two fuse covers the right side lamps. again front work but the rear do not. The right parking lamp has a piggy back on it that goes to the licensce plate light which isn't working either. > So my thoughts are that the issue is between the rear fenders to the fuse box. Where do these wires run? I know both wires from the light go along the side of the car but where do they run from there? It might be a grounding issue from where they come together and go to the fuse box??? > BTW.My brake lights and turn signals work fine. Thanks for any input > > My 66 wiring diagram http://classicvw.org/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=2375&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 shows that the tail lights are off fuses 1 and 2. The fronts are off fuse #7. If you have a volt meter, or test light, confirm that you have voltage at fuses 1 and 2. If not, they get their power from terminal 58 on the light switch. If you are using a wiring diagram for a European car, the light switch was different. In the USA during that era, the front park lights went off when you turned the headlights on. This is the European diagram. http://classicvw.org/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=2371&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 -- Russ Wolfe '71 FB AT '66 FB MT '64 T34 (not running) '65 T1 (not running) '05 KIA Sorento SUV russw@classicvw.org http://www.classicvw.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
