Filled up yesterday in Boise and it was $2.189 at Flying J. I just drove to Santa Rosa and back last week and my gas averaged $2.359. As far as Keith's proposed route goes, it's not too bad. I just drove over part of it last week on my trip. I haven't been the entire distance since the late 80's, and the last time I did it was in a Type 3! It's high desert, just like most of Nevada and southern Idaho. There is a whole lot of nothing. Just miles and miles of miles and miles. Welcome to the West. The stretch I drove over last week was 2 lane highway. But there is basically absolutely nothing from Winnemucca to Lakeview, and Lakeview isn't much itself. I-80 across Nevada isn't much different than I-84 across Idaho, just straighter. As far as bypassing Boise, oh well. I was going to be in the caravan, but my wife says she wants to leave a few days early anyway. She wants to spend a couple days at a friends place on the Oregon coast. It looks like I'm going to take my Type 3 on a dolly behind my Aerostar. My wife will not travel in the summer without A/C. My 2 year old gets pretty cranky in the heat also. She's considering the trip to to Crater Lake, so I may have to put up with "it" for a day. Here in the midwest, gas doesnt sell for what it does on the coasts. I just filled up tonight at a station next to the Interstate, and only paid $2.17 for 89.5 octane. The farther you get off the Interstate, the cheaper it gets. Down the road about 5 miles, It is only $2.12 for 89.5. -- Russ Wolfe '71 FB AT '66 FB MT '64 T34 (not running) '65 T1 (not running) '05 KIA Sorento SUV russw@classicvw.org http://www.classicvw.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
