Pretty much all of the I-80 corridor from SLC to Reno is high desert.  
Dry, hot, boring, and long stretches of empty.  And that's the major 
highway.  Get away from it and gas opportunities are even farther 
apart.

For '02, the route we took from CA was east to Winnemucca, then cutting 
north & east to Parma.  I don't remember there being anything to speak 
of after we left the interstate until we got to a town on the NV/OR 
stateline...
