Im in this camp too, would this work with your plans Bob and Sue? Others? An extra day gives us wiggle room if somebody breaks down too... we could easily lose a half day if something happens just trying to get to the next town. Im also running on an engine that just turned 100K, so I really don't want to keep it hammered especially if we have hot weather, the round trip for ME is about 7000 miles! That's a lot of glances to the oil pressure gauge ;-) And gas this time is $$$$$$$$ Keith On 26 Feb 2006 at 23:05, John Jaranson wrote: > I really don't have a problem at all making the days a bit shorter and > adding a day to the trip. I agree with this. I think we've pushed our luck the last 2 trips, and if we keep this up someone is likely to suffer for it. Plus, my experiments with driving different speeds have proven to me how much my gas mileage improves when I drive slower. I hate to waste the extra days, but it's better than getting a big speeding ticket or having an accident. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
