Perhaps the classic relief > valve failure? You're seeing the sum of all the other leaks, most of which you'll never find. There are probably tiny leaks at a couple of the hose connections, which are each too small to ever show a wet spot. The check valve is not perfect, and that's not a problem in itself because it means that the gas is only leaking back into the tank, same with a leak in the regulator. Finally, the biggest leaks are likely to be thru the tips of the injectors, where you can't see them now. The good news is that most of this means nothing in the operation of the car. Leaks in the check valve and pressure regulator are meaningless when the engine is running, and tiny leaks thru the injectors are unnoticable. Small leaks at new hose connections are actually likely to seal up a bit as the rubber conforms to the fittings. O-ring leaks will improve with immersion and heat cycles. The only thing that MIGHT bite you here eventually would be if the check valve disintegrated, but you won't know about that until it happens; there's no way to predict it. > I have no doubts that this car is going to fire up great this weekend. We've all got our fingers crossed, but I doubt you'll need any special help. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
