Just some thoughts: In WI, and I assume most other states, a towed vehicle needs a plate and registration. You can get a temporary plate in most states for a minimal charge. If the car is on a trailer, then the trailer plate is enough. I drove from here to Oregon and back for just under $1000. That included the new head purchased in Myrtle Creek .I carried lots of spares, with me and you could do the same. If you could bring parts, or just a complete engine then you'd have to fix the brakes and then drive it home. That would require 2 people and a week or so to do, but the seller might be willing to let you fix the car at his place before you take it away. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
