Replacing the complete beam is easier and simpler than any partial 
conversion. It really is the way to go to accomplish what you have in 
mind. I upgraded my '66 to a '71 beam/brake setup, it's a drop-in job. 
The rears also drop in. Looked at from the 'all-original' standpoint, 
this is all stuff that can be just as easily undone and put back to stock.

Yes. This also offers the option of using the various lighter, wider 914 
wheels.
