I think youll be glad you did. Once you have learned where your engine should be, if anything goes wrong youll see it before it causes any damage. I wish I had paid more attention to my oil temp gauge crossing the desert, I have a bad valve seat now cause it ran about 20 degrees hotter than it ever did before and that was too much for the heads.
