A different cam and gear was introduced '72, but the lift and duration specs are the same; only the attachment to the gear changed. Those tow cams require different oil pumps. Also, each of those cams was available in about a dozen different variations in pitch diameter of the cam gear. That is there to make up for production variations in the cases. The differences from the nominal are stamped on the rim of the gear. It's important to get a proper gear for your case. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
