Now that Im thinking, the diaphragm had more than one layer, and bloused like Russ said. The Replacement I made had at least 2 layers, maybe 3 but no Blouse.... and if I recall right I tightened the screws with it in the fully depressed position, so that it wouldn't stretch the diaphragm material in the extremes of the cycle. Keith The original diaphram had what is called in the trade, "blousing". Ridges molded into the material to allow for movement with the outside trapped between the housings. > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
