Steve, you're bad for me! :-)
Just to cover the obvious, I would NOT coat the sealing surface nor
inside. Yes, I figured the bail would scrape the coating if the entire
surface was coated. Maybe when I get mine done I'll have them tape off
the bail landing strip so it doesn't get painted, thus avoiding the
scraped look.
Or maybe I'll get them ceramic coated with a covering to pull heat so as
not to insulate them as may be the case w/powder coating...
