If your symptoms are still the same, then the problem is outside the points where the charger is attached. If the problem disappears when the charger is connected, then the problem is inside the span of the charger. Since you've already cleaned the battery connections, that leaves the battery itself. You should also be able to look at the charger current and see whether the starter is still drawing current after you turn the key OFF. Since you mention "starter button" I wonder if there is an aftermarket starter button which has been wired from the ignition switch output terminal (so the starter can't be run unless the switch is ON.) If this is the case, that may have abused the ignition switch contacts enough that they are being flakey. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
