You can get a used T4 engine and swap it in (it's not plug-n-play but
close). Or build up your T3 engine. Get a stroker for the torque you'd
want to pull hills. My T3 engine, for example, is 2007cc (bored and
stroked) with a high-output electronic ignition and I had no problems with
any hill. You can also try a different manufacturer like a rotory
(Clarissa is going to attempt this) or a Chebby 8-cylinder or back to VW
with a water-cooled engine. Just gotta answer one question:
