I can't remember exactly how these work. I had the one on my bus fail So I replaced it with a new one. A few years later the replacement died. I still had the orginal, so I remember taking it apart, cleaning up the connections in it, and it worked again. I believe there is a small screw on it, that you use to adjust the pitch. But if the screw is either too tight or too loose-you don't get any sound. The idea was to set the screw in the right spot, then seal it/secure it in place with some caulk or something... That's how I remember it, but I did it a few years ago... -Kevin '71 FI squareback '65 kombi somerville, ma -----Original Message----- From: Virginia & Peter [mailto:ginger@parkerdurost.org] Subject: [T3] horn internals Any ideas? This is such a simple circuit, but I really don't understand what creates the vibration/oscilation. The crud was on what I believe is the "hammer" tip. I'm sure I can get another horn, but now I'm curious how it works. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
