<x-flowed>The 92 gas only Civic VX could do 60MPG on the  highway and rode halfway
decent.  Ever ride in a Hybrid?  Its like being in an 86 Hyundai excel with
overinflated tires.  Noisy and stiff as all heck.

If the batteries are lead based they would pose a significant environmental
hazard... If we could break through the battery technology barrier we would
really have something... and I might even throw and electric motor in the
back of the Square!

this is exactly what i was addressing. even @ 8 years, the batteries still have to be replaced! also, my 1968 A/H Sprite got 49mpg when it was 30 years old!
