<x-flowed>Good question. I checked the VW factory workshop manual and it says to 
adjust the valves with the engine set at the firing position, not TDC, 
yet this is contradicted by the accompanying photo which shows the 
pulley set at 7.5. TDC would be 10mm to the left of the left mark.
