Heh.

MT is "Manual Transmission" and can be confirmed from the lists jargon 
page:

ISTR is old usenet jargon, and isn't on the above page, but perhaps 
should be,
it means "I seem to recall" a quick yahoo search for "AAR ISRT acronym" 
produces:

but that page would imply that AAR was "at any rate", and I don't think 
that's what Jim was saying.
perhaps he meant "Auxiliary Air Regulator"?

Whatever it was, it should go on the lists jargon page.
