Re: [T3] those rubber bump stoppers

<x-flowed>Ok guys, I just pulled the other three wheels off the car and had a closer look. The rears are both missing but the mushroom head is still in great shape both sides. The fronts both have badly deteriorated rubbers on the top (pointing down) and fairly nice-looking rubbers on the bottom (pointed up!) I also noted the presence of the brake line going into the caliper, and another line that goes into the backside of the spindle backing plate, not sure what the function of this is. As old as these cars are, couldn't be ABS sensor could it?

The rear bump stops ('IRS') are also fitted to double-joint Beetles such as
1302S and 1303S (Super-Beetles in USA ?). They are readily available in the
UK - are you sure they can't be got in the USA, Keith? 131 501 191 is the
number, which is a super Beetle number.

I made up a replacement 'mushroom' with an M12 bolt, a couple of nuts and some
washers, all molded together with bondo to make the equivalent shape. I
through-bolted it to the support. Others have bought a universal bump-stop from
their FLAPS I believe.

I think the 3 screw holes are more likely drain holes.
