The time is not a big problem. Check carefully for rust. '71 is one 
of the best years, so this is potentially a very good car. The brakes 
will likely need hundreds of dollars of work, probably much more than 
just an adjustment.

If you can't do the work yourself, you'll want to make SURE you know 
where you can take this to get it done well, and at reasonable cost, 
BEFORE you dive into this deal. The very best person to do the work 
is you, because no one cares as much about your car as you do, but I 
realize that's a problem for most people.
