Here's one more site which has a LOT of detail, but could use some 
illustrations. There's really too much info here for most people to 
want to wade thru, but it seems really well informed. I especially 
like the quote, from half way down the page, "One of the most common 
misconceptions is that a gas shock is filled entirely with gas and no 
oil." I think there's good stuff here for anyone who's interested in 
learning about this in some detail.
