I wouldn't be surprised if the diaphragms are a bit stiff after 34 years!

If you haven't already got the repair kits, T3D sometimes have them but I got mine from Wayne Gardner in the US.  I think they were around $15-20 each from Wayne.
Check the contents though because there are kits available which don't include the accelerator pump diaphragms.  I found this out the hard way before contacting Wayne.  Also, the quality of repro needle valves in some kits is reputed to be poor.  I haven't found this but I've seen lots of discussion on the T34 list about it.
