I get my parts from Gene Berg, but most places supply pretty much the 
same parts. I use a different filter base than the one they generally 
supply for type 3s but they've been happy to give me the one I want 
as part of their kit. I mount the filter base to the rear engine 
mount crossbar. On cars before '69, you can use a late case with a 
crossbar, just to provide this mount.

If your car ever sees cold weather (below freezing) I recommend that 
you also invest in Berg's pressure relief pump cover.

I can send you some photos, or put them up on Russ's site, if you 
want to see how I plumb things. If it's done right, there's NO need 
to modify the fan housing AT ALL.

It's a very worthwhile addition, but it can only be done on a type 3 
in the course of a complete engine rebuild.
