If it was removed from service with the salt still on it, the body could be
in disasterous shape by now!

Oh no you wont, except for the shocks all the parts are unavailable now, and
the shocks you get at the FLAPS will be too stiff. at 66K, if its been
lubed the suspension should be like new. The OE shocks are likely to be
good too.

Dont touch it if its good, do a compression check... if its well maintained
its only about half worn out but it IS due for a valve job.

change the ignition

Alot of people like this, but there is no quality control of the aftermarket
units therefore they fail after only 2 or 3 years in many cases. Points
will give you the same performance and only need to be changed about every
15Kmi

Your only option is to go full flow or remain stock, unless your rebuilding
the whole engine you really cant go full flow

YEA...youll have no heat! and the heads and cylinders run hotter unless you
make some tin to fill the gap where the heaterbox was.

Good used heaterboxes are quite cheap and you can find some through this
list likely

No reason to, My car is dripping with electrical accessories and still gets
9 years out of a battery with the original generator in place.

which seems to

You cant get enough heat out of ANY electric heater to make any real
difference, generator OR alternator.

Rocker covers are still plentiful out there but they are in the hands of the
vendors now and about triple the original cost, still at $100 ea they are a
bargain when compared to the amount of labor to fabricate another is
considered. Good front fenders for a 69 are also out there, keep an eye on
the swap meets if there are any shows around you
