Stranded? by a Type 3? NEVER! in 17+ years of driving Type 3's 10 of which were in the winter I got stranded all of twice, once at home by a worn out starter, once at home with a cracked distributor cap. Seriously, I doubled up my end bay (actually I designed it 2 type 3's wide) so I could get the golf in in the winter... saves alot of time scraping ice and dusting off snow, and it warms up faster in the morning being garaged. The daytime cold soak at work is seldom all that bad, and the indoor temps keep things from getting stressed that much. That being said... the golf let me down once, last winter, where the solder in the fuel pump relay went bad, but AAA and the car was home for free in an hour. keith > > I've always figured that outside is where you really want your winter > cars.
