It is designed to work properly at a constant RPM. This is fine if you are drag racing, and have your foot in it constantly. If you try to drive them on the street, they have a tendancy to hesitate and stumble. The ones that are available now, are actually Bosch's attempt to cash in on a fad, and are built very cheaply. I have heard of brand new one throwing the weights right out of the box. The quality is very poor. I personally prefer the ZV/JCU4R3 distributor for all around performance. It was a 1 year only distributor that VW made specifically for the 1500S T-3 engine in 1964. http://www.oldvolkshome.com/ignition.htm#C1964S -- Russ Wolfe '71 FB AT '66 FB MT '64 T34 (not running) '65 T1 (not running) '05 KIA Sorento SUV russw@classicvw.org http://www.classicvw.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
