OK, I'll try that. The sleeve has a bevel at one end; does that go towards 
the governor or into the tranny case?

Thanks. I'd appreciate it, if it's not too much trouble.

BTW, I realised today that it is most likely the lug bolt that is stripped, 
not the hub. Does the Beetle use the same bolts? I actually don't think I 
have any spare ones.
