Of course it's not very much; it's just more than I expected it to be. I 
torqued the bolts a few times because that's the way that Bentley says to do 
it. It's something to do with the way that the gasket compresses. After the 
first time, all of the bolts turned a bit each successive time, until 
eventually the torque wrench clicked right away without turning the bolts at 
all. Yes I did use the Belleville washers.

I actually think it's the filler tube was the culprit, as it was coming 
loose at the top, and I had a really big leak there once before. This 
doesn't mean of course that the governor cover wasn't equally guilty.

It's the rear. I'll probably need one of your good used hubs.

I'll take that as a "yes" to my asking whether it is safe to drive like this
