ended up using a used (but much newer than mine) universal case. A friend
was saving it for a build, and sold it to me. I some how missed the fact
that it was missing an oil plug until it was almost completely assembled.
Now I have all of my shrouding in place, but have a hole in the side of the
case. It is still on the engine stand, thankfully.
The hole is on the side of the case just below the distributor. It
looks like it MIGHT be about 1/8" NPT. However, I am told it is factory
installed for an idiot light pressure switch.
Can anyone tell me with any certainty what size plug I will need to plug
it. I have enough room to get it in if I use the correct thing.>>

It's 1/8 inch pipe thread. Use a nice brass or even aluminum plug for this
(and preferably a short one), as a steel one will rust or cause you to over
tighten it. This hole was originally for the t-1 based sender, since they don't
use one on the oil cooler like a t-3 does. This hole is easy to over look,
unless you know it's there.

I
get. I have a non stock T3 engine in a dunebuggy. Based on this, I am
probably the most dark side, as I do not even have the right car, much less
a stock engine. When I am done with this engine build, the only thing left
of the original engine will be some of the exterior parts, and the gears for
the cam and distributor on the end of the crank. Everything else is new or
remanufactured, and none of the engine internals are stock. I have stopped
calling it a rebuild, as there is virtually nothing left of the original. >>

I really don't think you're the darkest "darksider" here, as there are plenty
of us here. Brian Fye is probably close to the leadership though, as he has a
mid engined "Speedster" (roofless Notchback). I won't even get into what
Keith Park has hiding in his cars. : ) There are others here with t-4 engines in
their t-3's, I personally have a converted t-1 engine in my Notch (so I know
about that plug you asked about), along with a single side cover IRS trans in
it. My Roadster 2 is probably more "stock" than my Notch, but one look will
tell you otherwise. :D I also have a t-4 engine (2.0L) sitting in the garage,
but I haven't decided which car is going to get it (probably the Notch though).
It's set up for FI which would be really nice to keep, but I'd have to work
out the brain box placement and some other things to use it. Anybody run Solex
32's on a 2.0L?
