I recently picked one up at Auto Zone. They stock our size belt in three different quality levels. $6 for the low end up to about $15 for their top quality belt. The guy working the counter was a Corrado owner and wanted to argue with me about whether a 69 squareback came with an alternator or a generator. He was "certain" that VW switched to alternators in 67. Just check the size of the belt before you leave the store :) Doug -----Original Message----- From: Constantino Tobio [mailto:ctobio@gmail.com] Sent: Friday, May 20, 2005 9:59 AM To: type3@vwtype3.org Subject: Re: [T3] Generator Light Gamboa, Gary wrote: >Hal Sullivan wrote: > > > >>Further oddness -- 15396 interchanges to Gates 7390, and 15402 >>interchanges >> >>to 7395. Gates and Goodyear are my preferred brands. Chances are your belt is old and stretched since that's the spec size, and its obviously loose. Given that and the cracks (which could potentially add diameter), I suggest replacement- should be well under $10.00 and a little quality time with your T3. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
