It's possible, but I doubt it. They are pretty nicely made. The seal is metal 
to metal and should wear in rather than wear out. The sealing surfaces looked 
beautiful on the only one I ever took apart. That one belonged to Keith, and 
had caused him some unrelated trouble. To be fair, however, I wasn't able to 
see anything wrong with it once I got it apart. It's possible that it had 
gotten some dirt in it that fell out when I cut it open.
