I'm not sure whether your engine would have come with the right angle dist cap connectors or not. They were standard on all the FI engines because the dist was taller on those and the taller dist combined with straight connectors caused the wires to rub thru the engine lid insulation and eventually thru the SP wire rubber. This is still something to watch out for. The coil wire should be fine as long as the insulation is sound. The Bosch SP connectors can be reused on any 7mm SP wire. They just screw in, so you can simply unscrew them from the old wire. The connectors themselves should measure ~1000 Ohms. One of the BIG advantages of the OG right angle connectors is that they also just screw onto the SP wire. This means that it is easy to just buy bulk wire and replace it and adjust the lengths easily for a perfect fit. I see that you are missing some of the fittings that make for dressing the SP wires neatly. There is a hole in the rear face of the right upper shroud that should have a plastic clip to hold those 2 wires. There should be a bracket that holds the left wires that bolts to one of the holes on top of the left upper shroud. None of these are critical, but they would neaten up the wires. > - I now have everything put together except the exhaust, which I'll do when > I feel like abusing myself :~) The exhaust really isn't bad to deal with, except for freeing up the upper heat exchangers from a perished muffler. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
