Re: [T3] Today's work

<x-flowed>> The bottom tin we were talking about is just a small (approx 10-12 cm
square)
piece on each side that sits just below the cylinders and ABOVE the pushrod
tubes. You may not even have seen these parts, but you should check, because
they are critical, and sometimes get left off.

I checked on the right-hand side, as the bottom tin was still lowred after installing the thermostat. The air deflector tin IS there, thank goodness.

My car is a strange mix of good maintenance and utter neglect. I suppose it was once owned by someone who looked after it properly, and then either it got into the wrong hands, or it started to fall to bits from old age, and the owner just gave up on it because of the difficulty in finding parts, probably in the '80s or early '90s before the advent of the Internet. I have found plenty of other less accessed areas where everything is done by the book.

Something to verify is that the generator needs to be installed with the
housing turned so that the cooling hole in its side points straight down. This
is easy to check because Bosch stamped a short line on top. That line should
line up with the dot in the center of the hold down clamp. I think that yours
is at least close.

Yes, it's set up right.

Thanks,

Daniel
