<x-flowed>Does your spare tire squeak against the body of the car?
C
Ok, I finally had a chance to get to the store to purchase some grease and I squished it in good. I'm glad I did, as it took quite a bit.
However, when I let the car down, it was not as quiet as I had hoped it would be.
When I am drivin' down the road, I want people to be looking at (if they must), because I am makin' a ton of noise with an obnoxious exhaust, not because my car sounds like a beat up sofa bouncin' down the road.
At first I thought that maybe it just needed to work in a bit, and that may still have a little to do with it, but, as I let the car down slowly it sounds like a dry-rubber-against-clean-metal sound.
I thought it might be the shocks, the rubber bushings look pretty worn out. Maybe it's the steering damper, I don't know. But if I let it down slowly, it squeaks slowly, it's just real hard to pin-point.
What can I use to "test" these areas and find out which one is squeaking? I'd like to get down there and just start squirtin' everything with lube until goes away but I don't want to make a bigger mess or work for myself than what is necessary.
Any suggestions on this matter?
Thanks,
matthew

There are 4 Zerks there, so make sure you hit them all. Push grease into
them until you see grease coming out around the trailing arms.
There are several possibilities for squeaks, but you might as well start by lubing the Zerks. These are often forgotten and the front axle will
eventually die if not lubed.
Other possibilites are the steering damper and shock absorbers.
