Re: [T3] fuel pump relay ground

<x-flowed>Hey Russ

In that picture where you showed the wire hanging down, I noticed that there is a fuel filter mounted under the engine compartment. I have done the plumbing for my engine on the Notch but have not figured out the best place for that filter. Is that site shown in the picture the best place? By the way,a re there any others of that setup i your gallery or on the Samba? Thanks.

Hey All..........well, my attempts at getting my T3 running today didn't
work........first of all, I can't get the fuel pump relay to operate the
fuel pump.....turns out I have no ground circuit to the relay.....
according to Bentley....terminal #85 on the relay gets a ground signal from
 connector #19 in the brain.......however, I don't get a ground signal
coming from #19 for some reason.....I have tried 3 different brains, but no
ground signal coming from terminal #19. According to Bentley, I have a
ground source provided to the brain via terminal #11 which is connected to
the grounding terminal on the case....this I have checked out and I do have
a good ground supply thru #11 to the brain....no problem there....
I have manually provided a ground source to relay terminal #85 (without
grounding the wire back to the brain) and the fuel pump runs continuously.
Also, I checked the wire from #19 to up front at #85 and I do have good
 continuity.
Evidently, the brain must control when the fuel pump relay gets a ground,
thereby allowing the fuel pump to run. There must be something that signals
the brain to provide this ground, but I don't know what...
 What am I missing???

See the wire hanging loose by the gas line in this picture?

That is the other end of that wire on #85. Try grounding that wire, in
the engine compartment, with the key on. This should make the pump run.
This picture is of a car that has been converted to carbs, but it is a
good shot of that wire.
