design the pistons, crank, and pretty much everything else in this

perhaps the motor was designed for those carbs? [ *grin* hopefully

Seriously though, thanks everyone for explaining that people don't use
the chokes with those carbs.
I had marked it down on my list of things to worry about given various
threads on the list I had seen
about people's chokes. The car currently starts up and idles pretty
well, I only sometimes
have to open the throttle a tiny bit when starting it, and I don't have
to hold it open but for maybe 10 seconds
before it will idle on it's own. but then there's no cold weather
here.
(You have no choke on *both* sides, right?)
Actually no. the choke is still on the right side. My mechanic tells me
It has been "disabled".
